Just a few things I wanted to record about yesterday and today. Yesterday (Friday) was my first hydrotherapy day! I got picked up in a wheelchair at 10 and again at 3 and taken down to the therapy pool. The pool itself is pretty small, but it is a nice 97 degrees! Honestly it was almost too hot. The second time I went I remembered to take my ice water with me. I had to wear a nice little number...a disposable swimsuit that comes in a plastic bag! Its a bit goofy, but nobody cares because its only me and a few other high-risk moms wearing the same thing. It was really pretty nice to get outside of my room for a bit, move around in the pool, and get to talk and share stories with some of the other moms. Some of them have been here already for 4 weeks and are looking at about 4 more. I considered myself one of the "lucky" ones. Although most of them had been care-flighted in under emergency circumstances, they were all doing pretty well now. I haven't had any emergencies, but the potential of my situation has everyone on edge. I noticed I was one of the only ones that had to have an IV port in.
Speaking of IVs...I had to use mine last night :( After pool time I was feeling a bit uncomfortable...not real contractions, but I could tell something was different. After the nurses changed shifts I talked to my night nurse about it. She put me on the monitor right away and saw that I was having contractions and some uterine irritability. She started me on fluids via my IV to see if that would settle them down. They weren't strong enough to be painful or anything, but they were noticeable. The contractions were also fairly regular...about 4 minutes apart for over an hour. The fluids didn't seem to help, so the nurse practitioner came in and talked to me about medication. I ended up getting a shot of something that starts with a "T"...can't remember the name. It settled things down enough to where they let me take off the monitor and go to bed. The shot had some side effects that I REALLY didn't like. I felt like my heart was trying to break out of my chest, and my whole body felt like it was throbbing, and my hands were shaking. It took a couple hours for this to go away, and a while longer for me to relax enough to go to sleep. So it wasn't the best night for sleeping :(
This morning I woke when a doctor came in at 7. He is the doctor that is actually on call on weekends for my regular doctor. So if something happens on the weekend he will be the one to take care of it. I talked with him about the events of last night and he didn't seem overly concerned. He said contractions make everyone a bit nervous because of the things I have going on, so we can't ignore them. He felt the treatment was right and there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I don't have any history or new reason to go into labor early. (I thought I should remind him that I don't have any history or risk factors for all the conditions that I have this time either, but I didn't.) Anyway, it was good to get some answers and talk things out with a doctor...and to meet the guy that could deliver this baby. I'm still hoping for my regular doc though! So, I'm about to put myself back on the monitor...hydrotherapy at 11...and hopefully my parents visiting later!

I'm glad that they let you keep all of your "privileges" though. Enjoy your hydrotherapy... I could use some of that right now.
